COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — One person is in critical condition after being shot in the University District section of Columbus.

According to Columbus Police, at about 8:09 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to the area of E. 7th Avenue and Indianola Avenue on the report of a shooting.  

When officers arrived on scene, they found a 23-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, sitting inside a vehicle that had crashed into a residence.  

The victim was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.  

After investigating, police say the victim was inside his vehicle when a male suspect and another person confronted him, and the shooting occurred. The victim attempted to drive away during the shooting but crashed his vehicle because of his injuries.
